Job Opening: Sales & Marketing Leader (Director / Manager)

We are looking for an experienced sales and marketing professional with proven history of selling technical products/services.
We are a growing Seattle-based engineering and manufacturing firm that has been developing instrumentation products for domestic and international markets for over three decades. We are now looking for a goal-driven sales and marketing lead with broad experience for Rugged Controls. Our products are integrated into a wide range of marine, oil & gas, and construction applications all over the world. Sales range from $5,000 to $250,000 per project.
We’re looking for a person who can nurture key client relationships, patiently work to achieve sales goals in a market with long sales cycles, and have the people skills to be a great team member with our engineering staff. You must be a quick study and have a solid understanding of technical sales and industrial sensors.
In the last 18 months we have sold into offshore drilling contractors, oilfield service companies, equipment OEMs and more. We have successfully launched new projects into industrial and rigging markets and have many more projects in the works. We’re not starting from scratch and we expect that you won’t be either.
Required for consideration:
  1. 3+ years of sales & marketing experience for technical products or services
  2. Current customer contacts who are willing to be references for you.
  3. Direct sales experience.
  4. Understanding of modern customer outreach methods: email newsletters, blogs, web content and SEO.
Extra credit given for:
  1. A list of current contacts in the Oil & Gas sector, including electrical engineering, electrical maintenance, drilling managers and offshore engineering positions.
  2. 3-4 years of sales experience in the gulf states…TX, LA
  3. Experience with developing and maintaining brochures & specication sheets, Adobe Suite of products, InDesign, Photoshop, etc.
  4. Experence with drupal or Wordpress web publishing.
Job responsibilities will include:
  • Growing sales with new customers and existing and related markets.
  • Maintaining high quality relationships with our current customer base.
  • Working with the management team to develop detailed monthly targets, quarterly and annual sales goals.
  • Using Sugar CRM software to log and track all sales activities, calendarize sales tasks, maintain contact database, and produce pipeline reports.
  • Manage, enhance and expand our existing sales partner network and OEM accounts.
  • Conduct direct sales efforts via phone, e-mail, meetings, etc. with prospects and gatekeepers.
  • Direct sales efforts will include traveling to meet with specific clients, prospects, and strategic partners.
  • Manage and attend all relevant national and international industry trade shows, approximately 4 per year.
  • Provide responses, with support of the technical staff, to requests for quotations and proposals.
  • Develop and conduct business development and technical presentations in a classroom or conference room setting with customers and prospects.
  • Develop detailed knowledge of the company's products or services.
  • Develop web blog, monthly email newsletters, marketing materials, case studies and advertising.
  • Develop annual sales & marketing plan in support of organization strategy and objectives.
Required Qualifications:
  • Experience in the instrumentation, marine, oil and gas, rigging and/or construction industry.
  • Excellent team player with good communication skills.
  • Flexibility; this is a small company and we all wear multiple hats. You must be willing to contribute at all levels…tactical and strategic.
  • Excellent written and oral English skills.
  • Our sales philosophy is to thoroughly understand the needs of our clients, then provide a high value solution based on this understanding. Candidate must conduct business and maintain existing and develop new relationships with this understanding.
  • 5+ years of sales and marketing experience
  • Highly proficient in all Microsoft Office applications and Outlook.
  • Have excellent business presentation skills.
  • Familiarity and experience with internet technologies
  • Must have ability to be a solo and remote operator.
Desired Qualifications:
  • Experience as a sales engineer.
  • Technical degree from accredited university.
